Currency Assistant overview
Currency Assistant is a very flexible and easy-to-use currency conversion calculator. It lets you convert between 173 world currencies and automatically updates exchange rates over the Internet.
With Currency Assistant you can easily create multiple conversion windows, import and convert series of amounts, calculate and convert the result of expressions, and quickly log, save, export, and print your conversions.
What’s new in version 3.7
- The incompatibilities with macOS 26 Tahoe have been solved.
- Currency Assistant has adopted the new macOS 26 Tahoe design.
- The irrevocably fixed Bulgarian lev (BGN) euro conversion rate (1 EUR = 1.95583 BGN) has been introduced after the euro replaced the lev and became legal tender in Bulgaria on January 1, 2026.
- The exchange rates of the Russian ruble (RUB) and South African rand (ZAR) can no longer be updated from the International Monetary Fund website.
- The Iranian rial (IRR) and the North Korean won (KPW) have been deleted after the Bank of Italy suspended the publication of their exchange rates.
- A bug that could cause displays to be incorrectly resized after currencies in a converter were edited while the tape was visible has been fixed.
- Several other minor fixes and interface revisions have been introduced.
- Currency Assistant has a new icon with a Liquid Glass design.
- Minimum required system version is now macOS 10.13.4.

I've been using Euro Asststant Pro for quite some time now (more than a year).
My opinion is that it's very simple and fast. I'm using Butler (a free program) and using Butler, I have put Euro Assistant Pro's application icon up in the menu bar for fast access (there are other ways for doing this, sure, but i can recommend this option).
Compared to Apples currency conversion in Calculator.app, this is much faster (as in really much faster). Using Calculator.app, you have to go through some time unnecessary steps. Ok, it's not that you have to spend a whole day, checking currencies in Calculator, but Euro Assistant Pro makes it so much simpler.
For fans of simplicity and accessibility, I can deeply recommend Euro Assistant Pro.
For those that are on a tight budget, continue to use Apple Calculator's built-in currency converter, or any of the other free alternatives.
Although, to my knowledge and in my opinion, this is the best currency converter out there. Buy.

Use Apple's own Calculater, comes with Mac OS X. It updates to the current currencies. Very good.

I'm a bit skeptical about the currency conversions w/ this program; they don't seem accurate....
